Makeup Forever HD Foundation: Shade 180

 Hey lovelies :)

I always pondered whether or not buying this foundation was worth it. $44 for foundation...seriously? My wallet and heart bursted into tears as I handed my money to the statuesque woman in heavy makeup. I bought this at Sephora during Black Friday..It wasn't even on sale T_T. I gotta say, this foundation is the ish~. This foundation is perfect for taking photos and feels like I'm not even wearing makeup at all, but has great, buildable coverage. Medium to high coverage actually. Look at my photos below and see for yourself :).

It does, however, feel a bit..greasy during the day. It's best to set this foundation with it's corresponding powder. But, I use Maybelline Mineral Translucent Powder to set. I wasn't about to spend all the money I didn't have on the corresponding powder. I have normal to dry skin, so I never experience oiliness during the day. But when I got this foundation, I did. But, primer and powder fixed the issue. I use a bit more on my dark circles (caused by never ending nights of studying) and areas that have higher pigmentation. All in all, I like this foundation and I use my L'Oreal Paris True Match Liquid Foundation in C8 that is a shade lighter, for highlighting. I put L'Oreal Paris  on the areas of my face that's lighter. Anyways, I apply my foundation with a stippling brush.

I also noticed that the Makeup Forever HD Foundation settles into my pores and my smile lines...but that was before I invested in primer. This is the first foundation I found that perfectly matched my skin tone. There was actually an employee at Sephora that was wearing the foundation and was my skin tone. I was elated. Just..so..freaking..happy.

Sleek Makeup: i-Divine Eye Shadow Palette in Au Naturel

A couple of weeks ago, I received my Sleek Makeup Eye Shadow Palette. Opening the box felt like Christmas :). I heard many great things about this palette.

Unfortunately, because Sleek Makeup is based in the UK, there aren't any stores that carries the brand in the U.S. I've been using it every day since and I've neglected my other shadows; as this palette is very convenient and carries 12 shades instead of me using 5 different eye shadows (for example: using 1 color from a Revlon trio, w/ 2 from Almay, and 2 from Maybelline) to create a certain look. It's only $9.99. When I encountered the website, I nearly cried with joy (Okay, haha, exaggerating here). The colors look great on many skin tones. So, for those who have been lusting over Urban Decay's Naked Palette (like me), try this out!

The package itself, is in fact, sleek, living up to its name. The shadows lasts over 6 hours without a primer and with a primer, over 8 hours. So as you can see, this is an awesome deal :). It also has amazing color payoff and creates the perfect smoky eye. Rating? You've guessed it: 5/5.

**I almost always use Nougat (the lightest color) as a highlighter, Noir (the black shade) and Regal (the burgundy shade, next to Noir) as eyeliner, with Noir on my upper lash line and Regal on my lower lash line. I absolutely love the shade Conker (the shimmery medium brown shade, directly below the shade Nougat). It creates such a beautiful warmth for any eye color.

L'Oreal: True Match Super Blendable Makeup in Cocoa (C8)

I know I've been inconsistent with my blog posts. School is just so busy >_<.

Today, I'm reviewing L'Oreal True Match Liquid Foundation that I bought a couple days ago in Cocoa (C8). I love that this new line offers many different shades for women with different undertones (warm, neutral, and cool). I usually have issues finding a foundation that caters to my skin tone and skin type. Maybe I'm just picky, but I'm glad I finally found something that works for me :).

I have normal to dry skin and I prefer lightweight, sheer to moderate coverage. This foundation doesn't dry out my skin, lasts a long time (I need to use powder or else my face will look like it's melting in this Florida heat. The cold doesn't last all day here.), super blendable, and provides moderate, but buildable coverage. I think I got the wrong shade though. I think I'm more N8 (Cappucino) or N9 (Mahogany). The line offers 33 shades.

Nonetheless, I'm really pleased with this foundation. I give it 5/5.

Maybelline: Colorsensational Lipcolor in Crazy For Coffee

I'm back :)

To start off, I've been trying to develop my every day makeup routine for the longest while. I'm getting there. I found the perfect eyeliner, mascara, eyeshadow, and finally, the perfect lipstick shade.

As a POC, finding colors that go with your undertones can be very tricky. Some of us even experience two-toned lips, making it even harder to find the perfect day-to-day shade. My lips are two-toned, my bottom lip is rosy pink and upper lip is at least one shade darker than my actual skin tone. (Well lately, I've been in the sun more often, so it's just half a shade darker..).

Now onto the lipstick :). This shade is absolutely gorgeous. The product is very moisturizing and lasts a good amount of time even through talking, eating, drinking, etc. The color is a rosy brown, the texture is creamy, and the lipstick: affordable. One of my favorite (drugstore) brands is Maybelline and with this product, I believe they've hit a home run. Once I run out, I'll be running back for more. Yes, it's that great :).

Hey readers :)

Sorry for the really late post. I've been really busy with school and whatnot. But I'll try to make much more of an effort. If anything, I'll be posting much more on the weekends.

Stay tuned ^_^

Milani: Baked Bronzer

It's been such a long time since I've made a post. Sorry, guys. It's been a busy summer.

So today, I'm reviewing Milani's baked bronzer. This was the first bronzer I've ever bought. I bought this in shade Soleil. I have to say. It's a pretty good bronzer. It gives a nice glow, but I was hoping to use it to contour. There's a bit of sparkle overload...Not my thing. Next time, I'll buy a bronzer in a matte, darker shade. There's also a compact mirror, so this product is great for on the go :). This will last forever and it was only $8.99.

Maybelline: Fit Me Blush

I've heard a lot about Maybelline's Fit Me collection. I actually bought my very first blush from that collection. Before, I didn't see the need for blush, until I actually tried it and saw it gave me beautiful flushed cheeks. I bought the blush in Deep Rose. It's a really beautiful color. The product promise is that it won't clog pores (check), silky smooth texture and wears evenly (on some days, for me). I bought the product for $4.48.

I have normal to dry skin, so if I don't moisturize enough, my makeup will look a complete mess. This blush isn't chalky, but it doesn't really blend into my skin, even if I did moisturize.

So the hunt for the perfect blush continues. Any suggestions?

Revlon: Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain

I bought the balm stain about a month ago and I have to say I actually like it. A year ago, I bought the original Just Bitten Lipstain+Balm. The latter, was horrible. The lipstain was extremely drying, didn't last, didn't even show up on my upper lip, felt like a marker was being dragged on my lips, and the balm FELL off the first time I used it. It wasn't retractable or anything. (Sorry, Revlon)

But the NEW one, is an upgrade. I bought it in Crush, a pretty berry shade. It's somewhat moisturizing, but since it's a gel formula, it can be drying after a few hours. I have very dry/chapped lips, so I put lip balm beneath the lip color. But let me tell you, IT LASTS FOREVER. (OKAY, 4-7 hours). It's really pigmented, so be careful. It's retractable too :).

Revlon products can be bought at your local drugstore and this product was $8.99

Jordana Cosmetics: Eye Shadow Duo, Lip Shine, and Liquid Liner

Within the past 6 months or so, I bought 3 Jordana products.

My trusty Fabuliner, the Color Effects Powder Eyeshadow Duo in Smoky Browns, and the INCOLOR LipShine Glaze Brush On Gloss in Mochaccino.

These products are $6.00 at the most at your local Walgreens. The Fabuliner is a liquid liner in pen form. It's convenient and last all day. With my past liquid liners, I would have to touch up, especially my wing. With the Fabuliner, there's no need :).

The Color Effects Powder Eyeshadow Duo in Smoky Browns give you exactly what it says. A smoky eye look. It somewhat fades during the day, but nothing a good primer can fix. The colors have a nice shimmer. (I would have swatched the shadow on my arm, but the lighter shade matched my inner wrist...)

I bought the Brush On Gloss in Mochaccino. It's really moisturizing (thanks to the aloe) and smells amazing! The color doesn't really show up on me, but next time I'll buy it in Raspberry (a plum shade).

Just to wrap up, Jordana Cosmetics is a must buy. It's at Walgreens, which will probably save you time and will really save you money.

Welcome to my new blog

Hey guys :)

I'm Hillary and welcome to my new blog. This blog will be full of all things beauty and fashion and everything in between. It's summer and I felt like I really needed something to do. Usually, in the summer I have no motivation to do anything but this I'm excited about :).

Recently, I came out...I am beauty obsessed. I tried to suppress that for some reason. But I'll go right ahead and say it, I am beauty obsessed :).
